A rant
Okay, seriously. What is wrong with guys who whine about how girls never liked/like them, and what's wrong with them just because they are skinny/chubby/spotty/neurotic/incapable of normal social interaction and how all girls are superficial etc etc? And then it turns out that the only girls they are actually talking about are Totally Hot girls with long blonde perfect hair and gorgeous skin who reek of Money.I would do a rant about Remembrance Day services instead of this one, which is really pretty old and which probably 80% of you are very familiar with, but I'm afraid of missmachismo.

yes, as a sponsor of youth, I have dealt with that male rant several times (I always inwardly chuckle. If only they knew what the other side was also freaking out about.) mostly with post-high-school-youth at university for the first time. "Kat's Pyjamas, there are 4 girls I really like, but two of them are acting all weird and really slutty, another has a guy from high school that she's dated for years, and the fourth doesn't know I exist. What do I do!?"
My response is generally something along the lines of "slutty girls get icky diseases and pregnant (also an icky disease), girls with boyfriends from high school break up, and she probably knows you exist."
Fran and I are v. curious about the cause of the rant. Also, yes. Perhaps these misguided gentlemen have committed a gaffe and uttered these sentiments in female hearing?
The cause of hte rant was that I saw a comic that one of Ben's friends did on the internet and it was a picture of a hideous nerdy science boy slavering after a Totally Hot Blonde and she was giving him a completely scornful, bitchy look as though she wouldn't consider wiping hte floor with him.
you could always come to Japan, where instead of Remembrance Day they have "Pocky Day" (a day dreamed up by the manufacturers of the stick candy since 11/11 looks like four Pocky sticks). Although I'm sure that would just give you something different to rant about (ie. consumerism)
Haha! Wow. That is truly a special kind of imagination that sees the date of remembering wars and thinks of candy. Is there not some other day in Japan at least when they memorialize those killed by the nuclear attacks or something?
